Asian Ground Turkey Bowl

We love easy and full of flavor meals which makes this Asian Ground Turkey Bowl recipe one of our weekly choices. Add some roasted vegetables to your bowl and don't be afraid to mix and match! Oh yea, totally pack it up for lunch the next day if there are any leftovers!

  • Ingredients

    • 1 lb ground turkey
       
    • 2 TBS extra virgin olive oil
       
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
       
    • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
       
    • 1 (8 oz can) whole water chestnuts, drained and chopped ( these give a great crunch with minimal flavor)
       
    • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
       
    • 4 TBS low sodium soy sauce
       
    • 1-2 TBS grated fresh ginger  (about an inch or two)
       
    • 2 TBS rice wine vinegar
       
    • 1 TBS sriracha, I omit if I’m serving my kids and just put it on after for Luke and I
       
    • Salt and pepper to taste, the soy sauce and hoisin may give it enough flavor so add this at the very end if needed
       
    • 1 cup of jasmine rice cooked per directions on bag
  • Directions

    1. Start by browning the ground turkey in a skillet with the 2 TBS of olive oil on medium-high heat in a medium saute skillet.
       
    2. While the meat is cooking start to cook the rice, and roast the veggies to go with it. I love roasting the veggies simple with olive oil, salt and pepper at about 425°F for 20-30 minutes. We typically do roasted carrots and broccoli but you can do whatever you prefer.
       
    3. Once the turkey is brown reduce the heat to medium-low, add the 2 cloves of minced garlic and the ½ of yellow onion diced then sauté until tender about 2-4 minutes. Stir in the 1 can of water chestnuts drained and diced.
       
    4. In a separate cup mix together the ½ cup of hoisin, 4 TBS of soy sauce, 1-2 TBS of grated ginger, 2 TBS of rice wine vinegar, and 1 TBS of sriracha if using. Then stir in the sauce until all ingredients are combined.
       
    5. Serve over jasmine rice with roasted carrot and broccoli!
