Bees Knee

Bees Knee

I was introduced to the Bees Knee, a Prohibition Era cocktail that uses lemon and honey to mask the smell of gin. This drink taught me with the right ingredients gin can be delightful. I just had not found the right cocktail that truly enhanced the earthly tones in the right manner. This is a Bee Knees with our twist, slowly enjoy the unique blend of flavors.

  • Ingredients

    Serving size: one delicious drink

    • 2 oz of gin
    • 2 oz of apple juice (our favorite is the organic honey crisp apple juice)
    • 1/2 lemon juiced
    • 3/4 oz of raw honey
    • 2 medium size basil leaves
    • Ice
  • Directions

    1. Place one basil leaf, the honey, and the lemon juice into a shaker cup and muddle everything together making sure the honey is mixed in well with the lemon juice
    2. Add the gin, apple juice, and ice into the shaker cup. Shake until cold, my rule of thumb is I shake until the shaker cup is too cold to hold
    3. Strain the drink into a glass and top with the other basil leaf. This leaf will enhance the basil aroma while drinking.
